Bone Grafting in Ventura

Many people are replacing their dentures with dental implants. Implants are an innovative technique used in dentistry to give you permanent and natural-looking teeth. Whether you need a full mouth or only one tooth, dental implants can be customized to your needs. We often recommend implants to many of our patients as an alternative to other methods of restoration and cosmetic solutions.

The successful installation of dental implants relies heavily on the underlying bone structure deep in your jaw. For this reason, many people feel that they are not eligible for implants. Our certified dentists are prepared to help you achieve the look and comfort you so desperately want. We take the time to understand the bone structure beneath the gums, once we’ve completed a consultation, we can recommend bone grafts or bone augmentation. With our innovative procedures, we’re making it possible for you to achieve the look, function, and feel of your natural teeth.

Each patient is different and requires specialized care. It is our goal at Dental Care of Ventura to make sure that your expectations are exceeded through personalized care with a skilled professional.

Bone Grafts

We use tissue grafts to help restore damaged and missing portions of the gum. Thanks to advanced dentistry options we can do the same for the bones. We use bone grafts to restore and replace missing and damaged areas of the bone. Grafts are used for larger portions of the mouth. Bone augmentation is the procedure done for smaller areas.

The bone in your jawline is healthy as long as there is a healthy tooth in its socket. When you lose a tooth, that portion of the bone becomes more susceptible to bacteria and food causing it to decay and break down. Through bone grafting and augmentation; we not only repair damages but we can promote new growth for a long-lasting treatment option. If you are looking to have dental implants, we may need to fix the underlying bone structure first.

By adding bone or a substitute to the existing structure regeneration is encouraged. If you’re wondering where the bone comes from, we have a few options. Depending on your needs and wishes we can take bone grafts from your body, another organism, or we can have it synthesized in a lab. Bone materials that are synthesized in a lab are made of biocompatible tissues that can promote growth.

Once we have performed the bone graft your body will work to replace the missing components. This process known as “osseointegration” will strengthen the bone making it possible to securely place dental implants.

Dental Care of Ventura will assess your individual circumstances to provide care that is tailored to your needs. Some patients can have the bone grafting done in the same appointment as the dental implants. Others may need a few weeks or months to heal before the implants are ready.
